Sugarloaf Lodge is situated a convenient 45 minutes north of the Auckland Harbour Bridge and under an hour from Eden Park in the Matakana Coast Wine Country where you feel as if you're in a completely different world.
Combine your trip to New Zealand for the 2011 Rugby World Cup with a visit to Matakana Coast Wine Country with its beautiful coastline, sandy beaches and boutique wineries. There are also plenty of other attractions for you to enjoy, like scenic walks along the coast and through native bush, sculpture trails, golf courses and local potters and artists.
Sugarloaf Lodge offers rugby fans with their own transport a luxurious base close to Auckland from which you can experience the pleasures of the Matakana Coast Wine Country between rugby matches you have booked tickets to attend.

Package #1 Short Rugby Break (Available 5 - 30 September)
Two nights' accommodation + breakfast, pre-dinner glass of wine and hors d'oeuvres, dinner voucher for one night - $825 for two people
Package #2 Mid-week Break (Available 5 September - 31 October)
Three nights' accommodation + breakfast, pre-dinner glasses of wine and hors d'oeuvres, dinner vouchers for two nights, wine trail tour with tasting and lunch - $1395 for two people
Package #3 Luxury Wine Trail Break (Available 5 September - 31 October)
Four nights accommodation + breakfast, pre-dinner glasses of wine and hors d'oeuvres, dinner vouchers for two nights, wine trail tour with wine tasting and lunch, Brick Bay sculpture trail with coffee or tea - $1950 for two people
Package #4 Matakana Indulgence Break (Available 5 September - 31 October)
Six nights accommodation + breakfast, pre-dinner glasses of wine and hors d'oeuvres, four dinner vouchers, wine trail with wine tasting and lunch, Brick Bay sculpture trail with coffee or tea, boutique brewery beer tasting and lunch - $2950 for two people
What you receive with your package plus some optional extras
Every package includes the full Sugarloaf Lodge treatment: king size deluxe bedroom with ensuite, pre-dinner glass of Matakana wine and hors d'oeuvres, followed by a full English cooked breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly prepared fruit salad with yoghurt and muesli, home baked toast and home made preserves, and tea or coffee. Vouchers are provided for dinner at a selection of local restaurants.
Your wine trail tour will take in several local wineries to which you will be accompanied or you may prefer to follow independently. Tastings will be arranged for you with lunch to be taken at one of the vineyard cafes on the trail. The Brick Bay Sculpture Trail can be experienced separately or as part of the wine trail tour.
The beer tasting at the Leigh Sawmill boutique brewery will be followed by lunch at the Leigh Sawmill Café, one of the favourite eating places for locals and visitors alike.
Optional extras in the area which can be added to any of these packages for visitors with time to spare or a particular passion include a round of golf at Omaha or Warkworth Golf Clubs, including cart and club hire, a luxury massage, a visit to Morris and James Pottery, walks at Tawharanui Regional Park and snorkelling at Goat Island Marine Reserve.
